2.2. Information Collected Automatically

• Usage Data: We collect detailed interaction data, basic analytics data, country referrer resolution, city, pages on our site visited, and device information to help us prevent abuse and fraud, like stopping attempts to access paid features for free, and to ensure everything runs smoothly.
• IP Addresses: We collect IP addresses to secure our services from attacks and spam. To limit access to our tools (such as the number of anonymous mind map generations), we cryptographically "salt" and hash IP addresses. This allows us to recognize returning users to prevent fraud and enforce limits without storing your raw IP address permanently in our internal databases.
• Cookies and Similar Technologies: We use cookies, web beacons, and similar tracking technologies to collect information about Mind Map Wizard’s usage. This helps us improve our service by understanding how our site is used and where problems are.

2.2.1. Local Data Storage

If you are not signed in, your mind maps are stored locally in your browser. Please note:

• You can delete all recent mind maps at once using the clear history button on Mind Map Wizard or by clearing your browser data.
• Recent mind maps are automatically deleted after reaching 100 mind maps.
• Different browsers handle data retention differently - some may automatically delete your data if you haven't accessed Mind Map Wizard for an extended period, while others may retain it indefinitely unless manually cleared.

2.2.2. Data Anonymization Practices

We are committed to protecting your privacy. To ensure this, Cloudflare implements the following data anonymization measures before sending any data to Google Analytics:

• URL Query Parameter Removal: We automatically remove all query parameters from URLs (e.g., converting https://example.com/?q=mind-map-topic to https://example.com/) to prevent collection of potentially sensitive search or form data.
• IP Address Trimming: We trim IP addresses before passing them to server-side loaded tools, reducing the precision of location data while maintaining basic analytics functionality.
• User Agent String Cleaning: We clean sensitive information from User Agent strings by removing versions, extensions, and additional information that could be used for device fingerprinting.

2.3. Information from Third Parties

We may receive information about you from third parties, such as service providers, analytics companies, or other business partners, and combine it with the information we collect from you directly.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the personal information we collect for various purposes, including:

Feedback and User Submissions: Any feedback, suggestions, or testimonials you submit through our feedback forms or other channels may be used and displayed publicly on our website, social media platforms, marketing materials, or other online platforms. By submitting feedback, you grant us the right to use, modify, reproduce, and distribute your submissions for any purpose without compensation.

5. Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information to law enforcement, government authorities, or other third parties when we are legally compelled to do so, or when we believe it is necessary to comply with legal obligations, protect our rights and property, or respond to an emergency.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as it is necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by applicable laws and regulations. When we no longer need your personal information, we will take reasonable steps to securely delete or de-identify it.

More specifically:

• Mind Maps (Local Storage): In out free plan for users without an account, mind maps data are stored locally in your browser and not on our servers. Your mind map history can be deleted at any time by using the "clear history" button within Mind Map Wizard, or by clearing your browser's data.
• Mind Maps (Cloud Storage): If you use an account, your mind maps are stored on our servers so you can access them from everywhere and you can delete them at any time. We encrypt your data before storing to the cloud, ensuring your information is never stored on our servers in a readable format. Only you can access and decrypt your mind maps. We don’t have access to your content.
• Mind Maps (Shared): If you choose to share a mind map, it will be stored on our servers indefinitely to ensure persistent access for those with whom you've shared it. If you have an account, you can delete your shared mind maps at any time in your account dashboard. If you wish to have a mind map shared by someone else deleted, please contact us at contact@mindmapwizard.com.
• Usage Data: We do collect data on how our services are being used for analytics purposes using our own and third party services. Data collected through Google Analytics via Cloudflare Zaraz, which is first anonymized as described in Section 2.2.2, is deleted from Google Analytics after 2 months.
• Account Deletion: Upon your request to delete your account, or after an account is terminated, we initiate a deletion process. Within 30 days of this event, all your encrypted mind map data will be permanently deleted from our servers. Furthermore, we will scrub your personal identifiers (such as your email address) from our historical usage data and analytics logs, retaining only anonymized statistics.
• Other Data: Data associated with your inquiries (e.g., customer support emails) is retained for as long as necessary to resolve your request and for a reasonable period thereafter for our records, or as required by law.
• Third-Party Services: For data processed by third-party services (such as Clerk for account management or Stripe for payment processing), data retention policies are governed by those third parties. We encourage you to review their respective privacy policies for detailed information on their data retention practices.

6. Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, alteration, or destruction. However, no method of data transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6.1. Data Breach Notification

In the unlikely event of a data breach that could result in a high risk to your rights and freedoms, we are committed to promptly assessing the incident and, where legally required, notifying you and relevant supervisory authorities without undue delay. We will take all reasonable steps to mitigate any potential harm and to prevent future occurrences.

Mind Map Wizard is based in Switzerland. Your personal information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own (for example, the United States) where data protection laws may differ from your local jurisdiction.
